Don't feel discouraged it took me a while. you can record midi clips, do all the regular stuff, it just is controllable through Live. That way you are sending MIDI to Reason's synth, and it's playing the instrument, THEN audio is being sent from Reason's mixer to that track set up in Live. Live must be opened first, and it should say ReWire slave mode in Reason, if it doesn't do that then you've got a problem with ReWire. Set the AUDIO FROM Reason 1/2 or wherever the instrument is on Reason's mixer. In external instrument, select MIDI to: Reason, and under that select the synth (maalstrom, combinator, etc.) that you want to controlĦ. Go to the browser in Live, under Instruments you will find External Instrument.ĥ. Open Reason make an instrument(maalstrom/subtractor/etc) and make sure it is connected to the mixer at 1/2 by hitting tab and running the imaginary cable to 1/2, if you need to make multiple instruments make sure they are connected to 3/4, 5/6, and so on.ģ. Open Live create a MIDI track if there isn't already one.Ģ.

However, as I mentioned previously, I don't have Reason - so it would be great if someone who does could download the DEMO and give it a test drive.Yeah it's kinda tricky, I'll try and get it down step by step so it's easier.ġ.
Will report any problems I encounter with Project 5 rewired into SONAR. I just purchased this - 19 Euros via Paypal. Might be worth downloading to see if it will do what you are looking for - I will play with it a bit more when I have some time, but I sure would like the option to use Project 5 within SONAR as a VSTi! I don't own Reason, but I am very pleased to see that Cake's own Project 5 seems to open fine as a Rewire client within this.
#TOHOW TO USE REWIRE VST WITH REASON 8 TRIAL#
I just downloaded the trial version of this - Rewire VST - from the folks who make Energy-XT I've replaced almost everything I was using in Reason. just isn't worth it.īetween the synths and sample libraries that ship both with Sonar PE and NI's Komplete package. gimping my set-up, to accommodate one piece of software. the ram and performance benefits are just too good to give up. (The more things change the more they stay the same - as a user of the original SONAR XT - I purchased Fxpansion's VST wrapper as an extra then Directixer later, etc etc ). If Rewire VST helps someone using Reason integrate their work into SONAR and also move forward with 64 bit, that's a great thing, IMO.
#TOHOW TO USE REWIRE VST WITH REASON 8 64 BIT#
The way I look at it we are kind of bleeding edge with 64 bit at the moment. The price of Rewire VST seems to be really cheap - (19 Eur) - in the league with such add-ins as JBridge. If Props were really the customer centered team of developers many of their followers think they are, they would have opened Reason up years ago to VST/VSTi instead of (or maybe in addition to) developing their own proprietary scheme (rewire) then stubbornly holding firm on the decision to not release an 圆4 bit version. Well sure - but it's a bit like holding your breath 'til you turn blue - eventually you have to inhale/find a solution that works for you. it's across the board people want it, regardless of DAW. Put "rewire 64 bit" into a search engine. Sod paying a 3rd party company for something props need to pull their finger out on. and reason 5 now, but well they need to sort out the 64 bit sides of both rewire AND recycle (rex / rx2) libs. The simple fact of the matter is I'm paying "props" to dev their stuff, like everyone else.
